The Ashanti Music Awards Scheme has denied messages on social media of demanding monies from prospective award nominee to help them to win awards.

“We want to state categorically that we have no hands in such acts and therefore, dissociate ourselves from this fraudulent activity”, it said in a memo issued to the nominees and the general public.

TO: ALL NOMINEES & THE GENERAL PUBLIC
FROM: MANAGEMENT
DATE: 20TH OCTOBER, 2020
SUBJECT: ASHANTI REGION MUSIC AWARD IS NOT FOR SALE.

It has come to the notice of the organizers of Ashanti Region Music Awards on a purported message in circulation to extort money from nominees to help them win the awards on a silver platter.
We want to state categorically that we have no hands in such acts and therefore, dissociate ourselves from this fraudulent activity.
We believe that winning an award in a category is strictly on merit as per the laid down rules.

To our nominees and the general public, we demand that you become extra cautious since no one from our outfit would engage anyone at this level. We also advise all our nominees to be very conscious about criminals in the society who may seize the least opportunity to extort money from innocent people.

We also caution any individual or group perpetrating this act to as a matter of urgency, desist from it else face the full rigors of the law, when apprehended.
